Shopify social proof notifications built from real store activity
Shopify social proof is a small on-site notification that shows shoppers what other people are doing in your store: orders placed, items added to carts, shoppers viewing a product right now, or a product running low. BoostPop builds every one from your store's real activity, and it lives in the same app as your popups and bars, so you manage it all from the same dashboard without a theme edit.
Illustrative example. On your store the numbers come from your own activity.
What social proof does
A shopper on a product page cannot ask anyone whether the item is any good. A notification that says other people ordered it, added it to a cart or are looking at it right now answers that question in a few words, at the moment the shopper is deciding.
It only works when it is true, which is why BoostPop draws every notification from your real store data. The notification appears in a corner of the page, shows for a few seconds, and gets out of the way. You choose the timing, the wording and which pages show it.

Nine notification types, one source of truth
Each type reads a different kind of real activity from your store, and each only appears once that activity is there. The sample messages below are BoostPop's default wording, with illustrative numbers. Purchase and cart-add messages also carry a line naming the shopper and location, which you can edit or remove.
-
Live visitors
12 Shoppers Viewing this product right now
Appears when the number of shoppers looking at the product in the last 30 minutes reaches the minimum you set.
-
Recent visitors
18 Shoppers Viewed this product in the last 24 hours
Appears when the number of different shoppers who viewed the page reaches the minimum you set (10 or more). BoostPop uses the shortest window (4 hours, 24 hours or 72 hours) that qualifies.
-
Recent orders
8 Orders Placed for this product in the last 24 hours
Appears when real orders for the product reach the minimum you set within a rolling window of 24 hours, 72 hours or 7 days.
-
Ordered products
9 People Have ordered this product in the last week
Appears when the product has at least 5 orders (the default minimum) in the last 7 days.
-
Products in cart
4 Shoppers Recently added this product to cart
Appears when the number of different shoppers who added the product to a cart in the last 12 hours reaches the minimum you set.
-
Add to cart
Added this product to cart
Appears once a real cart add happens on your storefront. It shows the most recent adds from the last 72 hours, in wording you control.
-
Placed orders
Purchased this product
Appears once a real order is placed. It shows recent purchases from the last 7 days, in wording you control, including how much detail the message gives.
-
Low stock
Only 3 Left In high demand right now
Appears when a variant with inventory tracking on, which stops selling when it runs out, is down to 5 or fewer in stock (you choose the number).
-
Hot product
6 Recent Orders This product is in high demand!
Appears when a product is clearly doing better than your store average on orders or cart adds, and has at least 5 of them (the default minimum).
Real activity only, so it starts quiet
Nothing is shown until there is something true to show.
BoostPop never invents a number to fill a gap. If no notification type has real activity behind it, shoppers see nothing. That also means a store that has just turned social proof on will be quiet at first, then fill in as real orders, cart adds and visits arrive.
- Recording starts when you turn a type on. BoostPop begins recording the activity a type needs (orders, cart adds or visits) once a matching notification is on, so turn on the types you want early.
- Each type has its own trigger. A purchase message needs the next real order, live visitors needs shoppers browsing a product within the last 30 minutes, and low stock needs a tracked variant at 5 or fewer in stock.
- You set the minimums. Where a type uses a minimum count, you choose how much activity it needs before it appears. A higher minimum keeps thin messages like "1 order" off your store.
- Counts stay current. Test orders are ignored, and a cancelled or refunded order drops out of the counts.

When to use it
Reach for social proof wherever a shopper is deciding and a little evidence would help. It works best on stores with steady traffic, because the notifications follow real activity. Four common jobs:
-
Reassure hesitant product page visitors
A shopper deciding on a product wants to know other people are choosing it too. Recent orders, live viewers and add-to-cart notifications put that evidence right beside the product.
-
Create real urgency when stock is low
When a tracked variant is down to its last few units, a low stock notification tells the shopper so, using your actual inventory rather than a countdown you invented.
-
Spotlight what is selling
Hot product notifications work on collection and home pages, and recent orders on the home page too, pointing browsing shoppers toward the products your store is already moving.
-
Back up a launch or a sale
During a launch or a promotion, visitor and order counts show momentum as it builds, so a shopper arriving mid-campaign can see the store is busy.
BoostPop's angle
Social proof that is true, controllable and in the same app as the rest of your on-site marketing.
Many stores end up with one tool for popups, another for bars and a third for social proof. BoostPop puts all three in one install, and keeps the social proof grounded in what actually happened in your store, so every message a shopper reads is something you can stand behind.
- One app for the whole conversion stack. Social proof installs alongside your popups, announcement bars and spin-to-win, so there is one install and one dashboard to manage.
- Real activity only. Every notification comes from your store's own orders, cart adds, visitors and inventory. Nothing is simulated, and there is no demo data.
- You control the wording and timing. Edit the text of each message, set the minimum count where a type uses one, choose which pages show it, and set the delay, how long it stays and the gap between messages.
- Stays out of the shopper's way. It waits while a modal is open, moves clear of chat bubbles and cookie bars where it can, and has a close button that works with a keyboard.

Frequently asked questions
- Does BoostPop make up social proof messages?
- No. Every notification is built from your own store's orders, cart adds, visitor activity or inventory. When nothing qualifies, shoppers see nothing: there are no placeholder numbers and no demo messages.
- Why is social proof not showing on my store yet?
- Notifications appear only once there is real activity to show. BoostPop starts recording the activity a notification type needs once you turn that type on, so a new setup starts quiet and fills in as orders, cart adds and visits arrive. For example, a purchase notification needs the next real order, live visitors needs shoppers browsing a product within the last 30 minutes, and low stock needs a tracked variant at 5 or fewer in stock.
- Which pages can show social proof?
- Product, collection, cart and home pages. Each of the nine types supports the pages where it makes sense: low stock works on product and cart pages, for example, and recent visitors on product and collection pages. On any one page BoostPop shows a single notification type at a time, using the highest-priority type that has something real to show.
- Can I change what the notifications say?
- Yes. Each type has editable top and bottom lines for every page type it supports, and where a type uses a minimum count, you set it. The sample numbers on this page are illustrative: the real numbers come from your store.
