How BoostPop pricing works

BoostPop has two plans, and both include every feature. Free never costs anything. Pro is one flat monthly price that is set by your Shopify plan, not by your traffic. All billing runs through Shopify, and you approve every price on Shopify’s approval screen before it is billed.
The Free plan
- 3,000 widget views a month. The allowance resets on the 1st of each month (UTC).
- Every feature is included.
- As many live widgets as you want. Run every pop-up, bar and Social Proof notification you like at the same time. The only limit on Free is the monthly allowance of widget views.
- Never a charge. Free stays free.
What a widget view is
A widget view is one BoostPop widget shown on one page view. A page that shows two widgets counts as two widget views. The same visitor seeing a bar on three pages counts as three widget views. It is counted per page view, not once for each visitor.
What happens at the Free limit
When the 3,000 widget views are used up, your widgets pause until the 1st of next month (UTC). They resume on their own at that point. We email you when you have used 80% of the allowance, and again if you reach 100% and your widgets pause, so the pause is not a surprise. Nothing is charged at the limit.
The Pro plan
Pro is one flat price per month. The price follows your Shopify plan:
- Shopify Basic or Starter: $9.99 a month
- Shopify Grow: $19.99 a month
- Shopify Advanced: $49 a month
- Shopify Plus: $99 a month
Every Pro price includes the same things: every feature, as many live widgets as you want, and unlimited widget views with a fair-use level. Pro is never paused and never throttled. Billing is monthly.
You start Pro with the Pro button in the BoostPop app (on the Pricing page under Settings, or from the “Try Pro” offer). It reads Try Pro free for N days (the trial days your store has left, 14 for a store that never started Pro) or Upgrade to Pro when none are left. BoostPop sets the price that matches your Shopify plan for you, so you cannot pick a wrong one. Shopify then shows its standard approval screen with the exact price and trial, and nothing is charged until you approve there.
The free trial
New Pro stores get a 14-day free trial. Installing is free, and the trial starts only when you approve Pro on Shopify’s approval screen.
Shopify’s approval screen shows your exact terms before you approve. When the trial ends, Shopify bills the monthly price automatically unless you have cancelled Pro in the BoostPop app before then. We email you three days before the trial ends.
The trial is one 14-day window per store, counted from the day the store first starts it. A store that comes back inside that window gets the days left in it.
The fair-use level
Each Pro price has a fair-use level: a number of widget views per monthly cycle. The app shows a notice when your store nears the level. When it goes over, the app shows another notice and we send you one email that month. Going over the level does not pause or throttle your widgets, and nothing changes automatically. If a store stays far above the level, we may reach out to talk about it.
If your Shopify plan changes
Your Pro price follows your Shopify plan. If you move to a higher Shopify plan, you approve the new price with one click in the app, and it opens Shopify’s approval screen. We never change or cancel your subscription for you.
- You moved to a higher Shopify plan. The app shows a notice and we send an email, both with an exact date 14 days out, and we send a reminder email three days before that date. Until that date nothing changes. If you have not approved the new Pro price by then, creating and turning on widgets is paused until you approve. Widgets that are already live keep running the whole time and are never paused or throttled.
- You moved to a lower Shopify plan. Nothing is required. The app offers to switch you to the lower Pro price, and you can accept whenever you like.
Going back to Free
Click Cancel Pro on the Pricing page in the BoostPop app (under Settings) and confirm. Your store returns to Free, and the cancel itself switches nothing off. Widget views served while you were on Pro do not count against the Free allowance, but widget views your store used on Free earlier in the same month still do. For example, a store that used 3,000 widget views on Free, then started Pro and cancelled in the same month, has none left: its widgets pause until the 1st of next month (UTC). A store that cancels in a later month starts with the full 3,000.
Free runs as many live widgets as you want, so nothing needs choosing when you return. Every widget you had live stays on, and shows while your store has Free widget views left that month.
Cancelling
You can cancel Pro at any time with Cancel Pro on the Pricing page in the BoostPop app. Shopify credits the unused part of a paid month. Uninstalling BoostPop also cancels the subscription in Shopify, so there are no new charges after you leave.
Stores on Pay-As-You-Go keep it: see the page for existing Pay-As-You-Go accounts. Stores on Growth, Standard or Premium keep their plan too, and can move to Free or upgrade to Pro on the Pricing page; an old plan cannot be bought again once you leave it.
Frequently asked questions
- What counts as a widget view?
- A widget view is one BoostPop widget shown on one page view. A page that shows two widgets counts as two widget views. The same visitor seeing a bar on three pages counts as three widget views.
- What happens when I reach the Free limit?
- Your widgets pause until the 1st of next month (UTC), then they resume on their own. You are never charged on Free. To keep widgets running past the limit, start Pro from the Pricing page in the BoostPop app (under Settings).
- Will Pro ever pause or slow down my widgets?
- No. Pro is never paused and never throttled. Each Pro price has a fair-use level. The app shows a notice when your store nears it. If your store goes over it, you see another notice and we send you one email that month. Nothing changes automatically, and we may reach out.
- Can I use the free trial more than once?
- No. The 14-day free trial is one window per store, counted from the day the store first starts it. A store that comes back inside that window gets the days left in it. Shopify's approval screen always shows your exact terms before you approve.
